A Country Convenience Store

This convenience store and gas station offers an incredible number of products to customers in a very small footprint. This means that is has high financial productivity, or sales per square foot. This is great for the community since it provides great value for the community in it’s utility, higher revenue for the business, higher tax revenue for the town and all at a lower infrastructure cost than a much larger store with the same number of products offered. Not only this but it provides a sense of place, being organically built in a style to honor the rural old west, and is surrounded by beautiful fields, old fences, farm buildings and birds.

It is a fantastic example of a gas station/ convenience store, that, while being designed in part for cars, still maintains a sense of place in it’s location, it is small and humble, it provides a truly relaxing atmosphere off of the highway, and it also still offers nearly anything that someone could need who is passing by, or who is headed into, or back from, the countryside for hiking, biking, fishing, tubing, camping, etc.

Just a small list of what this small country store offers are:

Soda machines, 2 frozen icee machines, 3 types of hot coffee, cappuccino machine with 5 different options, drink pump-syrups, hot tea bags, worm bait, fishing poles, fish nets, folding chairs, inflatable tubes, life jackets, ice, firewood, tent stakes, bear spray, waterproof phone bags, blankets, coolers, sweaters, ATM, a small clean bathroom, ice scrapers, a sizeable car care section including windshield wipers, hundreds of snacks, a selection of dog treats, frozen ice cream, beer, and even a selection of prepared hot food (not pictured).

Just to note, I took these photos on two different days, one during a storm and one when it was sunny.

I just love this message, the self-awareness is so humble and cute

The bathroom is even teeny tiny, but it is there!

Even the customers add to the charm of the store
